The Timbers is a pure Canadian Log Lodge set at the foot of Fernie Alpine Resort, the gem of the Powder Highway.
With its prime prime ski-in/ski-out access, its open-concept entry, great room, gourmet kitchen, games room, six bedrooms, deck and hot tub, The Timbers ticks all the boxes.
It’s a spectacular place to breathe in the high alpine life and experience Fernie’s best mountain lodging.
With its open concept plan, hardwood floors, 270 degrees of picture windows, leather couches, flat screen TV, stereo and 14 seat dining table, The Timber’s Great Room is ideal for entertaining.
That said, its a fantastic place to cocoon on a couch and admire the mountain views of the Elk Valley, and the skiers/bikers riding the lifts.
The chefs in your group will appreciate the fully stocked kitchen. It’s designed for larger groups with two fridges, two electric ovens, a gas cook-top, a dishwasher, a double sink and a prep sink.
Your chefs should have everything they need including plates, flatware, knives, utensils, pot & pans, toasters and coffee makers.
For the foody audience, there is a large granite island with bar stools for watching or sampling what the chef’s cook.
I sat on this empty lot with a sketchpad and dreamed of getting on or off the resort in a snap. It’s now a reality.
Ski down the Elk Quad line and stroll a few steps into a large mudroom. Rack skis in the adjoining hallway, remove your ski boots using the custom timber bench, and hang your wet clothing on the hand forged hooks. Easy peasy.
Your boots can dry overnight on the heated concrete floors. The room also has a washer, dryer and laundry sink.
The Timbers hot tub deck has a mythical history and a magical setting.
It’s the inspiration for the set of Hot Tub Time Machine. The movie producers rented The Timbers, took photos and built a set in a studio that’s eerily similar.
Here, and in the movie, you exit a log building from glass doors, to a hot tub encircled by evergreens. Wow, it’s art imitating life at The Timbers!
The salesman said we would never need to replace parts on the bubble top hockey. We change gearboxes every year.
It may just be that everyone wants to be bubble top hockey champion while here. Warning, your 12 year old might take you to school!
The room features log walls, wood ceilings, a flat screen tv, a stereo, bar fridge, half bathroom and pool table.
Its setting over the garage with views of the Lizard Range has great sound separation from the house for a late night session of pool.
